What She Gave Me By: Carl The Muse

rocket

I am my mothers son

I am an example of how a boy becomes a man

I am the example of how a woman can teach a boy to become one

I started speaking at a young age

I was just in middle school the first time I took the stage

I did it because its always been in me to speak

I have always been the one who wanted to share the testimonies

I have been saved so many times

I have been sent back to life even after I flatlined

There is something I am supposed to do

Its simple to me with this platform

I am simply telling a mans truth’s

It seems simple but then again why do so few?

I learned all of my lessons the hard way

It is by some devine force that I am standing here today

Because I am right where I started before

Like my momma said

I belong on this stage

I am a floatation device

And there are many

Who need to be saved

I got lost so many times

And it was because of so many others like my mother

That helped me along the way

Many of those people like mom, have passed on

But its a new dawn

I am doing what they taught me to

I am singing that same song

Spreading the good news

If you believe there is nothing that you can’t do

I am a multiple time fool

The gifted kid that almost flunked out of school

The one who has been called a tool, because I deserved to

I am the baller who never missed a play

The same one who practiced last night

And now I have no homework to turn in today

I was that kid for sometime

Then I snapped to when I realized what was on the line

I am now a husband a father and most of all a man

I spun around like a water spout

And before I destroyed everything

I calmed down

My passion no longer rules me

My compassion does

Because I live like a tree

On hot days, I provide shade

I am a marker, I show the way

And if you need food, I can provide that too

I am a fully grown seed

Trying to spread the same kind of love and knowldge

That was given to me
